THE MISSION

Rameau undoubtedly wrote some of the richest, most dramatically vivid music of the Baroque era. While in recent years it has enjoyed a much-deserved revival, it remains too rarely heard in the UK. The Ramellians exist to redress that balance, by reviving his music in the spirit and on the scale of the private salon performances in Paris through which it first came to life.

Founded and directed by Alistair Scahill, performer and Rameau researcher, alongside founding members Catherine Martin and Zoe Shevlin, the group draws on the wealth of period-instrument specialists in the UK to present programmes of music by Rameau and his contemporaries.
